Hooves are the foundation of every equine's health and well-being. Their good condition directly affects the way the animal stands and moves, while problems that are not treated in a timely manner can cause pain, lameness and more serious complications.

Proper care starts with daily cleaning. Removing mud, stones, and other foreign bodies from the hooves reduces the risk of injuries, infections, and problems like thrush . At the same time, daily inspection helps to detect cracks, unusual odors, elevated temperatures, or other signs that may indicate a problem.

Equally important is regular hoof care and trimming by an experienced farrier. Most equines require grooming every 6 to 8 weeks, with shoeing done as needed, depending on the needs of each equine. Proper balance and hoof shape contribute to smooth movement and reduce the risk of lameness and other problems.

Nutrition also plays an important role. A balanced diet, rich in vitamins, minerals and quality proteins, helps to develop strong and healthy hooves. Clean water and the overall good health of the equine further enhance the quality of the hooves.
Equine living conditions are equally important. Clean, dry stables and well-maintained living areas help prevent bacterial and fungal infections. Daily exercise improves blood circulation in the hooves and promotes natural growth.
If we notice that an equine is limping, has cracked hooves, swelling, an increased temperature, or any change in their shape, it is important to contact a veterinarian or farrier immediately. Early treatment prevents more serious problems.

Systematic hoof care is one of the most important investments we can make in the health and well-being of our equines. With daily care, proper nutrition, and regular professional grooming, your equine will remain healthy and comfortable.
